DIY Bathroom Cleaners

The bathroom is the place where you need to be thorough with your cleaning! It is where you take care after your hygiene after all and it would be ridiculous to not clean it properly. However, if you struggle with some old stains that just won’t leave your bathroom you can try to make your own cleaners and tackle them once and for all.

Bath Tub and Showers

If your bath tub has some old stains and you have tried all the cleaning product that can be possibly sold and yet the result is the same, don’t lose hope. Try these DIY stain removers. You can sprinkle some iodized salt onto half a lemon and scrub the stains with it. Let it sit for a few minutes and rinse well with water. If that hack doesn’t work for you you can also try mixing baking soda and hydrogen peroxide. Scrub the stains with the paste and rinse with water after that.

In order to maintain the hygiene in the bathroom you can make your own solution in a spray bottle. Use vinegar and some type of essential oil. Lemon and tea tree are good choices since they both have anti-bacterial properties. After taking a shower just spray the walls of the bathroom. For the main cleaning of your bathroom you can make a soft scrub. You will need the following ingredients for the scrub:

  • baking soda (about ¾ cup)
  • ¼ cup liquid non-toxic soap
  • 1 tablespoon water

Just mix the ingredients and the scrub is ready to be used. You can clean the tiles, the bath tub and the shower in your bathroom with this soft scrub.

Cleaning of the Toilet Bowl

You can use the scented vinegar to spray and wipe the seat of the toilet bowl. For the real cleaning you can make a mixture of baking soda, white vinegar and essential oil. Mix one cup of baking soda with 50 drops of a stronger anti-bacterial essential oil. Use a wooden spoon to mix the ingredients and keep the powder in a jar. When you want to use it just pour some of the scented soda in the toilet bowl and add about 8 tablespoons of vinegar. This mixture will help to dissolve the stains. Scrub the toilet bowl and rinse.

A Disinfectant for Your Sink

Again for convenience you can use a spray bottle for the next cleaning product. For this DIY cleaner you will need these ingredients:

  • half a cup white vinegar
  • half a cup vodka
  • lavender essential oil (about 10 drops)
  • lemon essential oil (about 10 drops)
  • 1 and ½ cups water

Mix all the ingredients in the bottle, spray your sink and let it sit like that for a few minutes. After that rinse it with water. The secret of this mix is that the essential oils from lavender and lemon have great anti-bacterial qualities. So you can use this cleaner for the rest of your bathroom when you need a quick clean.

Clean the Grout of Your Bathroom

For this trick you need to mix one part vinegar and one part water and spray with the mixture the area you want to clean. Grab a toothbrush and start scrubbing. The next step is to make a paste of baking soda and water and apply it over the grout. Spray again with the solution and the soda will start to fizz. Scrub again with the toothbrush and rinse with water.

You can chose any of these options and use it pretty much for the whole bathroom whether it will be just for sanitizing or a general cleaning.
